About Us
I’m sure some of you are wondering, just who is Leith Henry of Kona’s Kitchen? I am, first and foremost, a pet parent and lifelong student of all things animal and nature. As a small child, my pockets were regularly filled with not just pebbles, pinecones, and other tiny treasures of the like, but also fresh fruit and vegetables from my family’s garden, and more often than not, a hamster, frog, or even a tiny kitten or two.
Every animal, every flower, absolutely everything that is alive and beautiful I wanted to know better. Through this deep connection and kind understanding of the natural world, the seeds of purpose were planted. It took a dog named Kona to cultivate these seeds and teach me that true health is more than merely the absence of disease, and that good food is inexorably linked to good health. The rest, as they say, is history.
Sixteen years later, I am a respected Functional Food Specialist, Certified Integrative Nutrition Natural Health Consultant, Published Author (Dogs Naturally Magazine), Public Speaker,Veterinary Consultant, Industry Formulation Consultant, and fierce Animal Rights Advocate.
Areas of special interest and study include Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles of food therapy, Ayurvedic principles of food therapy, agroecology and sustainable food systems, biochemical nutrition, Eastern and Western herbology, as well as various forms of energy medicine including (but not limited to) crystal healing, flower essences, and homeopathy. With a natural ability to break even the most complex of concepts into layman’s terms, my health messages embrace a unique approach that explores the interplay between food, emotions, environment, and the biochemistry of the body.
Nestled deeply in the heart of Northern California, I am a guide for mindful eating and graceful living, and am fully dedicated to healing in partnership with nature, set in the context of respect and compassion for all living creatures.
